Back in Business!

So, it's been uh, longer than intended?

Eventually I'll work out a way to explain the past year in an appropriately anonymous fashion. And find time to sort through the old posts and take them online again.

Since I am definitely meant to be doing other things let me give you the general gist.

2015 - RainbowGirl applies to discern in Childhood Diocese, she is informed she lacks an understanding of Anglicanism, evangelism and mission and is told to return in two years.

2017 - RainbowGirl moves to and is accepted into the 2018 Year of Discernment in Childhood Diocese.

2018 - RainbowGirl announces to all and sundry she likes women. Church reacts poorly. She withdraws from the year of discernment.

2019 - RainbowGirl applies for, and is accepted into the 2019 Year of Discernment having been repeatedly assured her sexuality is not an issue.

10 October 2019 - RainbowGirl is informed that she will never be ordained in Childhood Diocese. She is told that this had nothing to do with her sexuality but rather because the way she came out and the consequences of lacked stability. The bishop was also concerned she did not have the emotional capacity to work in a parish.

2020 - RainbowGirl moves to New Diocese and begins working as a stipendiary lay minister in an Anglican parish. She somehow is both stable and emotionally capable as she takes on digital ministry to people she didn't get a chance to meet in person before lockdown.

8 June 2020 (AKA yesterday) - God decides RainbowGirl has had enough time to wallow. She finds herself starting the enquiry process for a fourth time, this time at Neighbouring Diocese.

Welcome to crazy town!

Calling Time

Firstly, this is not a quitting post. This Easter has been an incredibly affirming experience. I know I am exactly where God wants me to be, and I have a lifetime of ministry ahead of me.

That said, even with pseudonyms I cannot keep this blog anonymous and I am privy to far too much confidential information, about my diocese and about my parishioners. It may be another five months before I have official confirmation of what my future role will be but I am finding myself in a position where I effectively already hold an official role. So this is my one week's warning to my readers, I'm taking the blog offline. I'll reset it and start over posting purely theological and philosophical musings with no discussion of my diocese or the people in it.

I'm still around and you can always e-mail me (have a look at the Who Am I? page), if you want to remain in contact.

Thanks for all the fish!
